CHRISTIAN APPEAL PROCESS

            In the ongoing effort to respond to the needs of St. Mary Catholic School Community a reconciliation process has been developed.  The process being implemented is modeled after the teachings of Jesus where in St. Matthew’s Gospel, Chapter 18, v. 15-17, He speaks to this issue.

“If your brother sins [against you], go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.  If he listens to you, you have won over your brother.   If he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that everyfact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses.  If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church.”

          Based on this teaching the steps for reconciliation will be as follows.

Informal Level

            Before presenting a concern or complaint to the larger community the individual(s) presenting the issue shall meet with the person who is the subject of the complaint and discuss the issue(s). 
If the Complainant is not satisfied with the outcome of the conference, the process will proceed to level one.

 Level One

            If the member of the school community is not satisfied with the outcome of the conference at the informal level, the person bringing the complaint, as well as the one to whom the complaint is addressed, shall present, in writing, to the principal, their understanding of the situation, within 5 working days from the initial meeting.

Level Two

            The principal, after reviewing the written statements, will meet together with the parties involved within 3 days after receiving the grievance to seek a solution.

Level Three

            When the outcome of the conference at level two does not accomplish a resolution, either party may request a conference with St. Mary Catholic School Board, within 5 days following the meeting with the principal. The written request to meet with St. Mary Catholic School Board should be sent to:

Level Four

            If an equitable solution is not achieved with the School Board the individual(s) may request a Conference with the Executive Administrator, Pastor of St. Mary Parish, in an effort to achieve resolution.  This request should be made within 5 days of the meeting with the School Board.

Level Five

            When the outcome of the Conference at Level Four is still not to the satisfaction of the individual(s) involved, they may submit their written grievance to the Beaumont Diocesan Superintendent of Schools.

Level Six

            If the person(s) still feel justice has not been achieved the individual(s) may deliver their written grievance to the Bishop of the Beaumont of Diocese who will make the final judgment.

St. Mary School officially opened in October 1924 with grades one through six and was
staffed by Dominican Sisters.  The school expanded with grades seven and eight in the 1930s.
The first graduating high school class received diplomas in May 1949.
St. Mary School was originally built at the corner of Ninth Street and Orange Avenue.
In 1958, a new high school building was constructed on Bob Hall Road
where the present facility is located, although the high school itself closed in 1970.
St. Mary School has played a significant role in the educational community
of Orange and the Catholic community in particular.

Our Sr. Aquinas Messina Memorial Prayer Garden.
Sr. Aquinas died on  September 7, 2001,
the day after her 81st birthday.

Sr. Aquinas dedicated the last 18 years of her life serving
here at St. Mary Catholic School.
She will always be an inspiration to students, faculty and staff.

donated a new Crucifix for the Gym.

 

The 2011 Graduating Class of 8th graders
donated a new Sound System
and a new refrigerator.

 

The 2009 Graduating Class of 8th graders
bought the school a new scoreboard for the gym

 

The 2008 Graduating Class of 8th graders
helped pay for a "Festival Building".

 

The 2007 Graduating Class of 8th graders donated
the new painting of the Hornet on the gym wall.

 

The 2006 Graduating Class of 8th graders donated
mats to cover & protect the gym floor.
 

The 2005 Graduating Class of 8th graders  raised
money to buy the new storage building in honor of Buddy Wolfford.

 

The 2004 Graduating Class of 8th graders donated
an new ice machine for the school.

 

The 2003 Gradating Class of 8th graders raised
money to buy the school the beautiful rugs in the foyer of the school.

 

 The 2002 Graduating 8th graders raised 
money to buy the school a new swing set.
